Lingonet Steam Engine is
a new type of learning program designed to enhance and rehearse the vocabulary
of technical structures. The developers of this material are convinced
that vocabulary is best learned when it is used in a meaningful
context. Therefore, this learning tool has been built around the task
of writing a small manual for the assembly of a model steam engine.
The
learner will carry out this task through a fact-packed multimedia
environment, in which a native speaker guides him/her through the
construction of the steam engine, step by step. The learner can choose
any of the topics displayed on the menu page by clicking on a button.
In the D.I.Y. section the learner will hear the expressions the native
speaker uses whilst he is guiding them and they are assembling
the steam engine together. Some of his expressions may serve the
learner
well when they take up their task of writing your manual.
The playback can be heard again (as many times as needed) by clicking
on the Play symbol in the upper left-hand corner of the screen.
On the "Writing a manual" page the learner will find links to some
helpful
websites, which will guide him/her through much useful information on how
to write better manuals. |
