Lingonet Ltd has developed a package of multimedia-based material funded by the Directorate-General for Communication of the European Parliament. The material takes the form of a series of virtual guided walks of the main city centre sights in Brussels as well as the institutions of the European Union. Students are invited to participate on each walk which also take them inside the European Parliament buildings where they can interview seven MEPs and two MEP assistants. They talk about themselves and the functions of the European Parliament. Each interview is available in a total of eight languages. Utilizing the guided walk format and tools created for working with video interviews developed by Lingonet the material is highly conducive to language learning. Designed to be educational the material can also be used for teaching social studies in schools.
The interview questions were developed by Finnish and Italian students and interviews are in Finnish, Swedish, English, German, French, Hungarian, Romanian and Italian. All the interviews are also available with English interpretation.
This material is free of charge and available for everyone to use and can be accessed through the following link: http://www.tkukoulu.fi/europarliament/
